During April, which has been identified as Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Steuben County Task Force for the Prevention of Child Abuse and the Steuben County Youth Bureau will recognize an individual, program, or organization that has contributed to the prevention of child abuse in Steuben County. Nominations for this recognition are welcome from schools, government agencies, community organizations, private practitioners, churches, and concerned individuals. Programs provided by the Steuben County Youth Bureau:
- Advancing Youth Development
- A hands-on interactive series of workshops sponsored by the Steuben County Youth Bureau. This quality activity is facilitated by a team of specially trained youth service professionals. The course is open and free to any youth service worker in Steuben County. Number of participants is limited to usually 30 people. Positive Youth Development practices are examined and emphasized. The workshops are scheduled as needed or requested.

- Baby Think It Over
- Steuben County Youth Bureau has 10 Baby Think it Over Dolls for loan to schools, youth programs, agencies. Please call or write to reserve the Dolls for dates needed.
- Compeer Program
- A companion, peer, equal. The Compeer Program brings sensitive, caring volunteers and persons receiving mental health therapy together in one-to-one friendship relationships.

- Family Flings
- A free fun filled family event for K – 5th/6th grade students and their families. Sponsored by the Steuben County Youth Bureau and the Task Force for the Prevention of Child Abuse. Please call for more information.
- Jack Lisi Youth Award
- A recognition/incentive award for young adults created in 1992 by the Steuben County Youth Bureau and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program as a memorial for the former Steuben County Sheriff Jack Lisi.

- Phone Card Program
- Steuben County Youth Bureau provides a pocket brochure with helpful and important phone numbers for youth. Please contact the Youth Bureau if you would like a supply of these free telephone number reference cards.
- Steuben County Rite Aid Drug Quiz
- Students from throughout the county form teams to learn about drug prevention culminating in a two day quiz scheduled in March.
- Stocking Project
- The Steuben County Youth Bureau and the Task Force for the Prevention of Child Abuse support an annual STOCKING PROJECT to provide stuffed stockings for needy children in the area. Thanks to the generous donations of hand-made stockings from local sewers, including the Southern Tier Chapter of the American Sewing Guild, the PROJECT receives nearly 800 stockings each year. With the help of residents of the Steuben County Health Care Facility, the Prattsburgh Central School Student Council, and local youth agencies, the stockings are stuffed and distributed at the Toys-for-Tots drive hosted by the Bath Knights of Columbus. Thanks to all for making this program a huge success!!

- A program sponsored by Steuben County & the New York State Office of Children & Family Services.

- Youth Service Sponsorships (i.e. "Summits, "Focus on Careers")
- A variety of youth programs, usually single events, sponsored in partnership with the Youth Bureau and other organizations. The purpose is to serve youth and foster cooperation.
- Youth Service Worker of the Year
- A recognition program sponsored by the Steuben County Youth Board. The Award recognizes a youth services worker who is employed in Steuben County and who goes "above and beyond" in assisting youth. The recipient receives their Award at the Annual Youth Board Dinner Meeting in January of each year.
