The Criminal Investigations Unit is comprised of five full-time investigators that are assigned to the Department of Social Services and narcotics investigations and three investigators that are assigned to Felony Investigations.
The Criminal Investigations Unit of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office is highly active in all criminal aspects of law enforcement, including:
- Grand Larceny/Burglary
- Homicide
- Sex Crimes
- Narcotics investigations
- Accident reconstruction
A Narcotics Investigation Team, consisting of members of the Sheriff’s Office and local Police agencies, work together as a cohesive unit on these sensitive investigations. The results have been successful, resulting in hundreds of felony arrests for narcotic possession and sales.
The cooperation of all agencies working as one unit has proven to be more effective in solving crimes and arresting criminals in Steuben County.
