| The Auditor is responsible for acting on
behalf of the
County Legislature in performing the audit of all bills and charges
made
against County departments. The Auditor determines the legality of all
claims, insures that claims are properly made and that funds are
available
in department accounts to cover the claim. Since the Auditor is
performing
a responsibility of the County Legislature under the County Law,
appointment
to the position is made directly by the Legislature, for a two-year
term
coinciding with the term of the Legislature. |
