THEODORE
M. SPRAGUE (1924-2004) Corning
Native, attaining rank of Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corp in WWII
and a
pilot, upon graduation from Cornell, he joined his father L.D. Sprague
in a
successful Insurance Business, pioneering the use of computer
technology in
that business, and outside of the family business, he became a
Philanthropist,
Civic Leader, Athlete, (U.S. Rowing Master Nationals).
He was instrumental in bringing Three Rivers
Development Corporation, Corning Intown Futures, Market Street
Restoration
Agency into Corning and he took on the restoration of the Centerway
Clock and
his own buildings. Ted was named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary
Club in
1996, based on his fellowship and being an outstanding member of the
business
community. |
